Hey everyone, today I have a some swatches for our first nail mail! Thank you so much Shimmer Polish for sending us these beautiful glitters. I will be swatching 3 polishes in part 1, and Rathy will post her 3 swatches shortly for part 2.
Here is an all up view. You’ll find tons more photos (with some glitter macro shots) and the full review in the read more link.
3 Coats with top coat on middle and ring fingers, glitter gradient over Julep Brandt on others
Elsa is a gorgeous mix of gold, red, cyan circle glitters and gold micro-glitters. You can get this fully opqaue with 2-3 coats, but like most glitter polishes, this gets thick rather quickly. So I prefer to to use it as a glitter gradient over a darker color. Or, you could just use one coat of this over gold and you can achieve pretty much the same effect. I love the mix of glitter colors in this one.
3 Coats with top coat on middle and ring fingers, 1 coat of Jacki over 1 coat of Julep Garbielle on other fingernails
Jacki is a purple jelly polish suspended with a ton of micro and holographic glitters. I would say the dominant glitter colors in this mix are blue, red, and bits of silver. Like Elsa, the polish is fully opaque with 2-3 coats, but it gets pretty thick after that AND trying to add a top coat. You can achieve the same effect with one coat over a darker purple or a purple-gray polish.
3 Coats with top coat on middle and ring fingers, Glitter gradient over 1 coat of China Glaze Sea Spray on other fingernails
Jennifer is a mix of various shades of blue and lavender flecks, gold hex glitters, and blue & lavendar micro glitters. To be honest, I loved it more in the bottle than I did on my nails. This polish is fully opaque with 2-3 coats if you want to wear it that way, but I prefer it as a glitter gradient over a light blue, black, or lavender.
Of the three, my preferences was Elsa, Jacki, and then Jennifer. Elsa is just such a beautiful mix and it wears well as an accent or just by itself. I personally am a huge fan of Shimmer Polish‘s glitter bombs and would return to her store and buy more. Just a warning though, glitter polishes can be a little thick but it helps hold more glitters together and you don’t have to fish around the bottle for it. :-)
