31DC2014 Day 9: Rainbow
Nyan Nyan Nyan Nyan Nyan Nyan…..
31DC2014: Day 8 Metallic
For today’s prompt I decided to paint Loki in all the shiny nail polishes. *_*
I’ve recently developed an obsession for holographic nail polish as it is beautiful under the sunlight as well as to photograph. The one featured here is ILNP Iconic on my thumb. It’s a soft, exquisite gold holographic. It may look like your normal typical gold in the shade, but bam! When you see it under direct light, this polish just comes to life.
31DC2014: Day 04 Green
For day 4 I decided to paint Bad Piggies! Aren’t they such an awkwardly cute bunch? This one is dedicated to my wonderful punny boyfriend who loves this game. :-)
Hi guys, I’m participating in the piCture pOlish Blog/InstaFest 2014 this year! There are two parts to this festival and 5 selected participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with the amazing piCture pOlish for a shade in their 2015 blogger’s collection. How neat is that?
So without further ado, here is Part 1! Part 1 is a swatch of a piCture pOlish nail polish. I was given Frosting to swatch and review. Frosting is a very girly glitter mix of white hearts, purple, magenta, white, and silver mini hex glitters suspended in a murky pale lavendar (almost white) cream. I had no problem getting to full opacity with 3 coats. I smoothed the glitter out with a layer of top coat.
The color is very cute and it reminded me a bit of this lavendar cupcake I really love so I used it as an excuse to get a cupcake. It’s for the picture!! (I did eat the cupcake too.)
Part 2 is in collaboration with NailVinyls. I was given the colors Honeydew and Peaches ‘n Cream to create a look using these awesome nail vinyls. (Mine were a packet of striped vinyls.) I was very happy with my color combination. Honeydew is bright mint green and Peaches ‘N Cream is a soft coral. The two colors in combination are so beautiful and bright, they pack just the right amount of punch as we close out on summer 2014. (Don’t they remind you of a cute summer cocktail?)
The vinyls are seriously so awesome, I’ve always found striping tape in general kind of flimsy. But these vinyls really take care of the job. They block the paint really well, they mold nicely to my nail shape, they are just sticky enough that they don’t peel off the layer below. I’m a pretty big fan and am looking forward to trying out some of their other products.
Some helpful tips, since we get this question a lot: You do want to leave 15 minutes between your previous layer/base coat and the tape. It also helps to put a layer of fast drying top coat on your previous/base coat to ensure the previous layer doesn’t come off with the tape. Generally you also want to pull the tape off within a few seconds (before the paint dries) of applying to the paint doesn’t dry to the tape and then you pull all of it off.
piCture pOlish is an Australian brand, but no worries, there are plenty of online e-tailers like Llarowe that ship in the U.S. Here is a list of International sites that stock piCture pOlish.
